Ukraine Endures Largest Air Raid Since War Began

A nationwide air raid alert was declared across Ukraine overnight, with explosions reported in Lutsk, as well as in the Kyiv, Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Mykolaiv, and Chernihiv regions.


President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukraine had endured the most massive air assault since the onset of the conflict. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, 296 out of 728 detected drones and all seven identified Iskander-K cruise missiles were destroyed.


Ukrainian military officials also claimed that an additional 415 drones vanished from radar and failed to reach their targets. Six Kinzhal hypersonic missiles were reportedly launched toward Ukraine as well.


The brunt of the attack fell on Lutsk in the Volyn region. Ivan Rudnytskyi, head of the regional administration, said that despite the scale of the air assault, there were no reports of casualties or injuries.


Several fires broke out in the city, including at warehouse facilities belonging to a local business.


Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson Yuriy Ihnat specified that a military airfield was among the targets.


In the Kyiv region, local authorities reported two people injured and a fire at an industrial facility.


One person was killed and four injured in Kharkiv region, where five buildings were damaged, according to regional governor Oleh Syniehubov.


In Sumy region, authorities reported shelling, airstrikes, and drone attacks in 39 settlements over the past day, leaving one person injured and ten buildings damaged.


In Khmelnytskyi region, one person was killed and the roof of a building damaged. Industrial premises and several buildings were damaged in Zhytomyr region, while one person was injured in Chernihiv region.


Infrastructure was damaged in Dnipropetrovsk region. Fires broke out at two locations in Mykolaiv region, though no injuries were reported.


Meanwhile, Russia’s Ministry of Defense reported strikes on Ukrainian military airfields, ammunition depots, and temporary deployment points in its daily briefing.
