In a dramatic twist during the high-profile trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs, the jury has found the rap mogul guilty on four of five charges, while deadlocking on the most serious allegation: conspiracy to commit racketeering.
Federal Judge Arun Subramanian told the courtroom that it’s too soon to call a final verdict after just two days of jury deliberations. He ordered the jurors back to the deliberation room to keep hashing it out. Details on the four guilty verdicts remain under wraps for now.
On Monday at 4:05 p.m., the jury sent a note saying they were hopelessly split on the racketeering charge — unable to come to a unanimous decision.
Following the partial verdict announcement, Combs’ mother and several of his children returned to the courtroom, showing a united front amid the tension.
Legal expert Dan Abrams of ABC News weighed in, saying, “The jury’s failure to agree on the most serious charge, while convicting on others, could spell trouble for Combs.”
If convicted on the racketeering count, Combs faces a life sentence behind bars.
The seven-week trial saw the prosecution call 34 witnesses, while the defense refused to present any. Jury deliberations began July 1.
Earlier that day, jurors requested transcripts of explosive testimony from Combs’ ex-girlfriend, Kassey Ventura, including a shocking 2016 hotel incident in Los Angeles, where surveillance footage showed Combs kicking and dragging her across the floor. They also asked for details on a wild orgy at New York’s Essex Hotel.
The Charges That Could Sink Diddy
Combs faces five serious federal charges: racketeering conspiracy, two counts of human trafficking, and two counts of transporting women for prostitution. He denies all allegations.
Under the notorious RICO law, racketeering covers everything from extortion and bribery to drug trafficking and sexual exploitation — but only if part of a long-running criminal enterprise.
The New York Post reports investigators raided Diddy’s homes in Los Angeles and Miami, seizing drugs, bizarre items, and a staggering stash of over 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricants.
Where Is Diddy Now?
Since his arrest in September 2024, Sean Combs has been locked up in a Brooklyn federal detention center.
Multiple bail requests were denied due to the seriousness of the charges and fears he might intimidate witnesses.
He’s currently held in a special unit, spending up to 23 hours a day in solitary confinement.
Reports say he was placed under suicide watch immediately after arrest, highlighting the immense pressure he’s under.
