Cardi B Denies Assaulting Security Guard in Ongoing Trial

Cardi B testified in Los Angeles County Court that she never physically assaulted a security guard who accuses the rapper of scratching her face and spitting during a confrontation in 2018.

“She couldn’t get a scratch from me because I didn’t touch her,” Cardi told the court, acknowledging that the argument outside an obstetrician’s office became heated but insisting it never turned physical.

The lawsuit was filed by security guard Emani Ellis, who claims the incident left her with a facial scar requiring cosmetic surgery, caused emotional distress, and cost her job.

She is seeking damages including medical expenses, lost wages, and punitive compensation. Cardi testified that Ellis is suing for $24 million.

According to Cardi, she was four months pregnant and in Los Angeles for promotional events when the altercation occurred. She said Ellis appeared to record her and mention her name on the phone, raising fears that her not-yet-public pregnancy would be exposed.

“Yes, I was angry — because I was pregnant!” Cardi said on the stand.

The rapper described Ellis as “security-heavy” and physically larger, but emphasized that no blows were exchanged.

A central issue during testimony was whether Cardi’s acrylic, rhinestone-covered nails could have caused the injury; she argued their “coffin shape” was not sharp.

Tierra Malcolm, the receptionist at the doctor’s office, testified that she broke up the dispute and saw no physical fight. She noted a scratch on her own face afterward, which she believed came from Ellis.

Ellis, who testified earlier, described the incident as humiliating and traumatizing.

The trial, held in Alhambra near Los Angeles, is expected to resume next week.
