Tim Burton and Monica Bellucci Announce Split After Years Together

Tim Burton and Monica Bellucci have announced their separation. In a joint statement sent to AFP, the pair emphasized that the decision was made “with respect and mutual affection.”
The Italian actress confirmed her relationship with the American director in 2023, when the couple also made their first public appearance together. “It was one of those rare encounters in life. I know this man, I love him,” Bellucci said at the time.
In 2024, Burton released Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the sequel to his cult 1988 film that won an Academy Award for Best Makeup. Bellucci played the role of the main character’s wife in the project.
Burton is best known for his gothic and fantastical films, including Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, Sleepy Hollow, Planet of the Apes, and Mars Attacks!. He has also directed music videos for The Killers and Lady Gaga, shooting her 2025 clip for Death Dance.
Previously, Burton was married to artist Lena Gieseke (1987–1991), spent over a decade with actress Lisa Marie, and later lived in a long-term partnership with actress Helena Bonham Carter. He and Bonham Carter share two children, Billy Raymond and Nell.
Bellucci began her career as a model before turning to film in the 1990s. She is celebrated for her roles in Malèna, On the Milky Road, Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra, The Passion of the Christ, The Brothers Grimm, and Spectre.
From 1999 to 2013 she was married to French actor Vincent Cassel, with whom she has two daughters. The actress has received numerous honors, including the French Legion of Honour.
The couple did not disclose the reasons for their split.
