“Shape of You” Shocks the World as All-Time Most-Streamed Song

Ed Sheeran has made streaming history—again. Apple Music just revealed its list of the 500 most-played songs in its ten-year existence, and Sheeran’s chart-dominating anthem “Shape of You” has officially claimed the crown as the platform’s most-streamed track ever.

Celebrating a decade of music streaming, Apple Music dropped its hotly anticipated ranking over the weekend, confirming that “Shape of You” not only topped global charts upon its 2017 debut but has continued to break records ever since.

The song hit No. 1 on Apple Music’s Top Pop Songs chart in at least one country for an astonishing 1,800 days throughout the last decade and reigned on the all-genre chart for over 1,000 days.

It’s not just Sheeran who’s setting records. The Weeknd’s mega-hit “Blinding Lights” took the No. 2 spot, having spent more than 180 days in the Top 10 of Apple Music’s Global Daily Top 100. Drake followed closely at No. 3 with his blockbuster “God’s Plan,” and made history himself as the artist with the most songs in the top 500—an incredible 27 entries, including nine in the Top 100.

Post Malone doubled down with back-to-back hits: his “Sunflower” (with Swae Lee) and “Rockstar” (featuring 21 Savage) landed at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.

Taylor Swift also made waves, ranking as the female artist with the most songs in the Top 500—a whopping 14 tracks.

Her 1989 era especially dominated, with “Blank Space,” “Shake It Off,” “Wildest Dreams,” and “Style” all making the cut. “Cruel Summer” proved to be her most popular song on the platform, ranking at No. 57.

K-pop sensation BTS secured the most entries for a K-pop act, with “Dynamite” at No. 34 and “Butter” at No. 252. Meanwhile, Blackpink’s Rosé and Bruno Mars debuted the chart’s newest song, “APT,” which quickly soared to No. 459 after spending over 60 days atop the Global Daily Top 100.

Japanese duo Yoasobi led for J-pop, placing three songs in the ranking—including their debut hit “Racing into the Night.” And proving that classics never die, Queen’s legendary “Bohemian Rhapsody” emerged as the oldest song to make the list at No. 156.
