Aaron Taylor-Johnson Reunites With Robert Eggers for ‘Werwulf’

Aaron Taylor-Johnson is set to collaborate once again with acclaimed director Robert Eggers for the upcoming horror film “Werwulf.”

According to reports, Lily-Rose Depp, who recently starred in Eggers’ successful “Nosferatu,” is currently in negotiations to join the cast.

“Werwulf,” described as a new take on the werewolf genre, will be directed by Eggers from a script he co-wrote with Icelandic writer Sjón, marking their second collaboration after “The Northman.”

The film is scheduled for a Christmas Day 2026 release across North America.

The project will be produced by Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title, along with Eggers and Sjón, while Chris and Eleanor Columbus of Maiden Voyage are attached as executive producers.

Eggers’ partnership with Focus Features continues, following the studio’s backing of his previous films including the critically acclaimed “Nosferatu,” as well as “The Northman,” “The Witch,” and “The Lighthouse.” Focus handled the international release of these titles through Universal International.

A reimagining of the classic 1922 silent film by F. W. Murnau, “Nosferatu” stars Depp as the protagonist pursued by the infamous vampire Count Orlok, played by Bill Skarsgård. Taylor-Johnson appeared as Friedrich Harding, a skeptic of the supernatural. The film was a box office triumph, earning $40 million in its opening weekend and ultimately grossing more than $181 million worldwide.

Taylor-Johnson’s recent credits include “28 Years Later,” “Kraven the Hunter,” “The Fall Guy,” “Bullet Train,” “Tenet,” “Nocturnal Animals,” and “Godzilla.” Depp has appeared in films such as “Wolf,” “Silent Night,” “Voyagers,” “The Dancer,” “The King,” and HBO’s “The Idol.”
